2011 Fall Color Trends

Want to add trendy new colors to your wardrobe?    Look no further than the Pantone Color Institute for guidance. The Pantone Institute is the world’s best known authority on color. They are experts in color forecasting.  By observing top designers, they forecast the colors that are certain to be popular each season.   According to Pantone, the 2011 color of the year is honeysuckle. Here are some designer's renditions of how they will interpret the color of the year into fashion:
In its purest form, honeysuckle looks like this:

But the color of the year is just one of the great colors that will grace fashion and home decor this fall.  Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, described the entire palette as follows:
"Designers take a painterly approach to fall 2011 by combining bright colors with staple neutrals, reminiscent of how an artist would construct a stunning piece of work..."

I'm a little late in my prep for fall, and I haven't even been out and about seeing how this color forecast has played out in stores... but I'm impressed with the entire palette this year. It's bright and cheerful, and very workable from a jewelry designers viewpoint.  Even the neutrals have a taupe-y appeal, not just flat browns and beiges.

I find it interesting how trendsetters in the artworld come up with the names... for instance, 'honeysuckle".... funny me, I always thought "honeysuckle" was yellow!
